Program Overview
Who should attendThe Convasis Web 2.0 Institute is designed for students seeking an effective and low-cost method of launching their online business, expanding their existing web design skills, or even getting exposed to the Web 2.0 environment for the first time. All levels of experience are welcome. Beginners will benefit from the foundational skills we will teach and will be just as capable of producing a market-ready website by the end of each session. Experienced programmers will learn about a multitude of valuable productivity tools for developing websites and will be able to make more sophisticated modifications to the platforms we introduce. What you will learnEach track is typically split up into 6 sessions that cover some of the primary categories of online business, including e-commerce, social networking, and informational sites. Each session introduces several methods of developing each type of website, enables you to practice building that particular kind of website right during the workshop, and is complemented by additional skills that will help you succeed in implementing your website - finding the right web host, working with your server, getting certain kinds of certificates, and most importantly driving traffic to your website. The latter will be explored in the final session with emphasis on search engine optimization (SEO), affiliate marketing, and more innovative techniques that are generally more difficult to learn about on the internet. What you will get
At the time of the workshop, you will receive your own webhosting account free for 30 days, complete with the cPanel control panel, email accounts, plenty of storage, and the ability to add your own domains to that account (but you'll have to purchase those yourself). You will be able to install any kind of software supported by our server so you can practice some of the skills taught in the workshop.
The workshop itself will be a mix of lecture and hands-on training. Thanks to our small class sizes, you will be able to get personal help on your website as we guide you through the process. Occasionally we will bring in executives from web design or online marketing firms to provide a more industry-specific approach with a higher level of expertise.
In-class exercises will be supplemented by online classroom materials that will be accessible through your personal login for an unlimited period of time. For 30 days following the workshop if you still have any questions, feel free to contact our customer support and we'll be happy to assist you with general inquiries about classroom material. Web development is not included in this service, however.
Prerequisites
No prior web development experience is necessary to participate in our workshops. You just need to know how to use a computer and the internet. That's all! But if you are more experienced, you'll benefit just as greatly from our workshops and will be able to build more sophisticated websites using the tools we introduce.Locations and cost
The next Convasis workshop series will start in Boston in February. Registration is subject to availability and costs $799 for the the full package. Individual sessions are $199 each.
